Owning It

  • I'm sick - finally gave in and went to the doctor on Monday.  Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and I'll get my energy back.
  • My exercise for the month of December consists of standing for hours on end.  Short bursts of walking are also included.  That's it.  And that's all it's gonna be, until I'm done with this dumb job.
  • My appetite has been practically nil, although I did demolish an entire package (a small one, ok?) of peanut brittle the other evening.  That sugary, buttery goodness what just want I needed wanted needed.  And when I added up the calories?  I still hadn't come close to a normal amount for the day.
  • I am over working retail at Christmas.  It was fun last year, but this year, they've just about doubled my hours, and apparently the fun stops after about four hours.  I'm working seven hour days all this week - you do the math...
The last week and a half has been rough.  I'm just enough of a big baby to see how working full-time would most likely wipe out me, my diet, and my exercise routine.  I give big props to those of you who manage to make it all work...because I'm hanging on by a thread, and I'm not even doing half of what I used to!  My normal life cannot return soon enough.

  2. Get well soon my sweet friend. Hope your job is done soon and you have time to pick up your routine.

To be honest I think you would manage eating healthy and working out if you had a fulltime job. You would just have too and you would find a way. You know now this is temporary and I think that's why it isn't working now. I know that would happen to me if it was temporary. I have always worked fulltime since I was 18 and I don't know better than fitting in workouts before or after work, that's why I know you could do that too if necessary.

Hang in there, just a few more days and normal life returns for you.

    Love you!

  3. Awww, feel better. Retail at Christmas is tough work, and when you are sick it's even more draining. But it's almost over, so hang in there!

  9. Feel better! Glad you got some meds - sometimes those colds/flu can just hang on without them.

I know you aren't used to all the work, but you at least have a light at the end of the tunnel which most of us don't have. Hugs!

  10. Standing for long periods of time is so hard on the body! Even one as fit as yours....:) I can't think of a worse job than retail at Christmas...but at least it'll be over soon.

So sorry you're sick - but the bright side is that with you lessened appetite, a few pounds are sure to fall away!

Feel better fast and have wonderful holidays with your family.

  11. Standing for long periods of time is really hard for weeks until you get used to it. I think you would be fine come mid January if you were still working there.

And, you just get used to working full time and fitting in everything you need to because you just have to. It's tiring at first, but it is surprising how we all adapt to whatever is thrown at us given enough time.
